Save The Date: TAL’s Annual Artist Convening
Critical Making:
Reimagining Community Care through Arts Education
February 27 + 28 2026
In uncertain times, the radical act of teaching art becomes creative resistance—a form of community care that builds imaginative futures. Join us for Tal’s Annual Artist Convening with this year’s theme of Critical Making, where teaching artists, cultural workers, and community builders gather to learn, create, and inspire transformation through the arts.
Our third annual Artist Convening celebrates art as a tool for social change and positions teaching artists at the center of cultivating creative justice. We'll explore how creativity becomes both tactic and vision—equipping our communities with the tools needed to imagine and build liberated futures.
Friday, February 27: Cocktail Hour & Auction
Join us for a reception in our gallery - we'll connect while viewing art from local Philadelphia artists. Proceeds directly support free arts programming. Want to get a head start on the auction or want to donate a piece to the auction - reach out to SOULPURL77@gmail.com. All pieces will be visible in the newly renovated Art’s League Gallery!
Saturday, February 28: Artist Convening
Spend a day in our 125 year old arts center - during the convening, you'll connect to other emerging, hobby, teaching, and working artists while experiencing a full day with:
Two dynamic keynotes from arts’ leaders sharing insights from their careers
Hands-on workshops centering creativity in community and change
Optional critique sessions for artistic growth and exchange
Collaborative sessions on creative resilience and collective care
Breakfast snacks & buffet lunch
Together, we'll examine how teaching artistry opens pathways to justice, healing, and hope. This convening is both a gathering and a call to action—recognizing that in these times, making and teaching art is itself an act of resistance, care, and profound possibility.
Join us in reimagining what community care looks like when creativity leads the way.
