The Arts League and Shakespeare in Clark Park Announce New Partnership to Support Theatre Arts Education and Community Engagement

The Arts League, West Philadelphia’s vibrant arts education hub, and Shakespeare in Clark Park, Philadelphia’s acclaimed outdoor theatre company, are thrilled to announce a new partnership designed to strengthen community access to classical theatre and performance training.

This collaboration establishes The Arts League as the homebase for Shakespeare in Clark Park rehearsals, offering a supportive and creative space for actors and company members to prepare for their summer productions.  In addition, The Arts League and Shakespeare in Clark Park are excited to launch a sliding-scale, drop-in choir open to all ages and all skill levels, led by Bea Quinn, Shakespeare in Clark Park’s Choir Director. Designed for singers of every background—from seasoned performers to joyful beginners—the choir emphasizes collective music-making, vocal exploration, and community connection. No audition or prior experience is required, and pricing is intentionally flexible to ensure broad participation. Art Bloom: Rock of All Ages Choir

As part of this collaboration, The Arts League will also host Shakespeare for Humans: An Acting Introduction, a six-week spring class tailored for actors and musical lovers eager to deepen their performance skills. Led by teaching artist Katherine Perry, a company member of Shakespeare in Clark Park, the class offers an immersive journey into Shakespeare’s text, exploring monologues, scenes, character work, and ensemble performance. Participants will work to bring Shakespeare’s language alive onstage, gaining confidence, craft, and practical theatre experience.
