2D: Mixed Media (Winter)

$250.00

WINTER: JANUARY 5 - FEBRUARY 22

THURSDAYS
1/8, 1/15, 1/22, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12

Time: 6 PM - 8 PM

Class Description:

Students will leave with a sense of confidence and resourcefulness in their ability to make art with nontraditional materials, and have a new outlook on the process of making a piece of art. Mixed media making is a joyful practice that can open many doors. Like any art form it can be a slow meditative process, or an enlivened dashing of energy. In this class, students will experience both. We will work with collage, painting, drawing, finding, searching, looking. Not only will we work within the conventional avenues of visual tradition, but we will also scavenge and decompose imagery from the gutters and underbrush with the goal of building up our own ecosystems of material from which to recycle and proliferate new ideas.

Teacher Info:

Jacob is an artist and teacher in Philadelphia. His work has been shown in galleries locally and internationally. Trained at Rhode Island School of Design where he received his BFA, his work is grounded in painting. He draws on observation of natural growth, ecological relationships, and memories; transmuting the literal into symbols, abstractions, and fables.
