Denim Mending
FALL: OCTOBER 13 - DECEMBER 6

6 PM - 8 PM
Class Description:
Students will learn to repair existing garments using scrap denim and sashiko thread. We will use a whipstitch and hand-sew the patches to the back of a hole in a pair of jeans as a form of visible mending. Students will walk away with a repaired/mended garment as well as a new skill they can apply to future projects.
Teacher Info:
Sharon Hillman (she/her) is a textile artist, illustrator, and designer in South Philly. She creates one-of-a-kind upcycled clothing, accessories, and home decor using reclaimed and secondhand materials. She also teaches a variety of workshops including machine and hand-sewn appliqué, mending, and sashiko.
