Garden Party: Painting (Spring 2)
SPRING 2: APRIL 27 - JUNE 14
WEDNESDAYS
4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 5/27, 6/3
6PM - 8PM
Open Studio Week:
6/8 - 6/14
Class Description:
ALL LEVELS – From absolute beginners who have never touched oils or even paints to highly experienced painters will be enriched through step-by-step expert instruction. Surprise yourself!
Welcome the season of light, color, and fresh air! In this six-week oil-painting class, I will provide individual guidance to all the students as they celebrate springtime through painting. The subject matter of the artwork is your choice, just bring a photo (even on your phone is fine) of your happiest springtime adventures! Think gardens, pets in sunlight, open windows, or secret hiking trails.
When the weather is appealing, we’ll even take our easels and reference photos out onto the new front porch (drop cloths underfoot!) for a little plein-air inspiration. Bring two or three images to choose from, and Jo Gamel (me) will guide you through composition, color harmony, and the freshness of spring light. Come paint, socialize, and bask in the company of creative group merriment.
You’ll learn to:
- Build a balanced composition from personal photos
- Capture the brightness, depth and color of spring light
- Use brushwork to convey form and texture
- Develop your painting from sketch to finish with gentle, expert guidance
Come ready to share stories, laughter, and creative company. I am excited to hear the stories behind your paintings. Our Garden Party is a celebration of art, warmth, and renewal, and you are officially invited!
