Teacher Info:
Angelique Scott is a Caribbean-American artist, educator, and activist whose work explores Afro-diasporic material culture through the use of clay, fiber (hair, satin, cotton), cowrie shells, indigo, and found objects. She creates both utilitarian and decorative pieces that adorn and hold space for connection, witnessing, reflection, and confrontation—offering an embodied way of understanding and remembering. Scott’s studio practice is rooted in self and community preservation, functioning as a form of protest against systemic violence—particularly capitalism, racism, and sexism. She received her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and her MFA from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture. Scott maintains a vibrant studio arts practice investigating spirituality, wellness, and communal healing through craft.
