Intuitive Painting (on miniature canvases)
SUMMER 2: JULY 14 - AUGUST 31
Dates: 8/7, 8/14, 8/21
Time: 6 PM - 8 PM
Class Description:
Often times we get overwhelmed by what we believe to be the most important thing, what we produce. When we fixate on products, we tend to seek perfection, freeze in fear, and feel stuck. The shift away from product to process, allows us to create from a place of abundance, and freedom rather than analysis and critique (that's where we tend to overthink!)
In this workshop, we'll be using 3x3 or 4x4 inch canvases and acrylic paint to create abstract pieces. We may have themes to choose from for anyone who may feel stuck putting brush to canvas. As your instructor, I'll encourage you to play with color and texture.
I'll also paint alongside you and remind u all to allow our paint brushes (or fingers) to move as they please! there may be situations where I will give an individual another canvas to work on as they take a break from the first. Ideally, each individual will focus on their own creative process and I'll guide them towards being as open and accepting as possible.
This is a practice of creating for the sake of creating, to express yourself, to start as many times over as you need (in the allotted time), and to walk away feeling a little braver and prouder about creating something new.
Teacher Info:
hi there, i'm nu! i run a small business called The Painting Hamster, where my hamster, Vincent Ham Gogh, "paints" on miniature canvases using acrylic paint, his preferred medium. most of his favorite pieces are abstract (playing with colors and textures) or of landscapes (trees and mountains). a big part of the mission of the Painting Hamster is to encourage people to try things they're afraid to try especially individuals who fear being seen trying or fear not being good enough. "if a hamster can create, so can you".
