Ready to Dye? - Shibori Resist Dyeing & Upcycling (Summer)

Class Description:
This class focuses on Shibori resist dyeing techniques to give new life to old garments in your existing wardrobe. We will be exploring at least four different tying, clamping and stitching methods to create geometric and organic patterns on fabric.
This workshop is for anyone who would like to learn a new way to customize their closet.
Gain an understanding of fiber content, dye processes for protein and cellulose based fabrics, exploration of traditional Japanese resist dyeing techniques, time management
Leave with as many renewed, upcycled, and custom and hand-dyed garments as you would like to bring in and experiment on!
Teacher Info:
Tina Nguyen is an art enthusiast, creative professional and Philadelphia native. She graduated with a BFA in Textile Design at Moore College of Art. Her early career was built within Old City’s boutique scene focusing on the up cycling of vintage jewelry and garments. Tina’s approach to design centers sustainable practices and advocates for eco conscious fashion through rediscovery and creative exploration of garment transformation.
