Woodblock Printing (6-8pm)
SUMMER 1 : MAY 5 - JUNE 22
Class Description:
Woodblock printing is an important and historic means of creating printed images. It is a fun and versatile medium done by carving relief images into wood. In this class we will draw images of our choosing onto our woodblocks and learn how to cut and print a single color woodblock print. Throughout the course there will be demonstrations of each step of the process before students set out to work freely on a woodcut of their choosing, getting a feel for the mark making possibilities of the material. Each week will build on the last as we move through each step together as a group. The first half of the class will focus on cutting our images, then we will move to the printing process. We will discuss woodblock prints from around the world as well as each others work to inspire and inform our own.
NOTE: THERE IS A $25 MATERIALS FEE FOR THIS CLASS. PLEASE SELECT THE ADD-ON BELOW.
